I am writing to you from Cuba, where I am working to advance an Evangelistic/Discipleship program that the Superintendents in Cuba had previously asked us to develop.
We are currently operating in four districts, creating a system where, once the Evangelists of the ministry or others lead someone to the Lord, their information is sent to the office and then forwarded to the local churches. Afterward, leaders who have been trained in each district church follow up with them. Please pray for the success of this district-wide Discipleship program, as it is new to the Assemblies in this region.
We have also been presented with opportunities to purchase various churches. These are for pastors who are planting in the less populated regions of Cuba. Since materials are hard to come by, we are opting to purchase rather than build at this time.
The first property is in the northern region of Camagüey, and the cost of the project is $2,600. This would purchase a finished house, which would be converted into a house church. The house is in excellent condition, and the owner is asking a very low price.
The second property is also a house church, available for $1,600. This would buy the house and complete the bathroom. It would provide both a home for the pastor and a sanctuary with seating for 40 people.
In Communist nations, the way forward is often through the ‘house church movement.’ It is illegal to build large, traditional churches like those in the U.S., but house churches are generally allowed. This is how the gospel is being advanced—where there’s a will, there’s a way!
